Kaffe and More

Kaffe News!

Some of You May Have Read
Like many of you, we were stunned to hear Tuesday news that Westminister Fabrics was closing! What does that mean for all of you that have signed up for our Kaffe Mystery Quilt? Facebook has run rampant with speculation. As a shop we have had limited info from Westminister. So we are sharing the letter posted on their website.

We are certain you have heard the news. Please forgive us for delayed communication, but our first priority has been to support our employees and designers. It is with great sadness that we announce, effective May 1, we are exiting the Westminster Lifestyle/FreeSpirit fabric business. Our sister company, Coats and Clark, Inc. will continue as part of the sewing and quilting landscape just as they have always been for over 200 years.

We appreciate your support and love of our fabrics throughout the years. We’ve enjoyed bringing to you the best designers printed on the most luxurious of fabrics and watching you create incredible works. Thank you for your love of our fabrics.

For customers: We will continue to fulfil orders placed to date for delivery prior to Tuesday, May 1, with new orders for existing collections on a first come first service basis. We will not be producing new Westminster or FreeSpirit Fabrics from today onwards.

So after talking with our fabric rep we know a little more.  There is a large shipment of Kaffe floating its way to the coast! They are still taking orders for some fabric lines while they are sorting this out.

What does this mean for our Kaffe Mystery Program?
As soon as we know details we will let you know. As you know the first of the kits were scheduled to ship in March. Despite all the negativity on Facebook, Westminister has indicated they will honor all orders with the exception of the last orders for the Pastel colorway.  We will be contacting each of you that ordered the Pastel colorway individually over the next few weeks regarding your choice of refund or store credit.  We think its best to move slowly without jumping off the "bandwagon" so to speak. We are so disappointed in the problems we have encountered and how it has affected our customers.

However, designers often move between fabric manufacturers and so we are thinking positively about the future for the Kaffe Fassett Collective.

We will let you know any information we get from the manufacturer directly.

Sew Long for Now,
Mary and Cheryl
