Summer Sewing

News & More

Our booth at the Golden Valley Quilters' Guild Annual Show was a great success.  Many of you had the chance to meet Steve and LouAnn Tippett, the designers and manufacturer of Sew Sweet products who were demo-ing their products. If you missed them, stop by the shop and we will show the easy way to get the perfect 1/4" (or any common seam allowance) on any machine and more!

Mary had a great time at the show and came back to the shop after they were setting up and said, "It's so fun seeing what our customers have done with fabric from the shop!" She was so right--everyday we are blessed with so many positive experiences. The shop truly is a/our "happy place"!

What's New

Zola is in the house! This is our first line from Ink & Arrow and the designer, Junebee. It is a little bit retro with featured colors of green, coral, navy, and chartreuse. Like always we have plenty of blenders to extend your options with these featured bolts:

New Canvas Prints!

We now have several bolts of light weight canvas perfect for bags, duffles, jackts and more! Some are 100% cotton and a few are 80% cotton and 20% linen. They wash beautifully and are durable. So how 'bout motorcycles or a vintage print in pink?

New 80wt Thread
We are now carrying a new line of 80wt thread from Floriani. It is called Quilters Select Para Cotton Poly and it debuted at Spring Quilt Market. I have tried a spool and love it for hand applique and English Paper Piecing. It is thin and light and so strong! It is a blend that has been thermally treated to reduce the sheen and resembles the best long staple cotton around.  There are so many applications for hand and machine work.  And the 400 meter (437 yards) spool is reasonably priced at $3.99. There are 40 colors available.

Rayon Batiks

The rayon batiks we ordered at market have arrived and are inspiring us to sew! I think all three of my daughters have put in a request! Long skirts, flowing pants, shift dresses are on the list. This 44" fabric is machine washable and so versatile. Let us show you what we have on hand.

New Classes on the Website
Check out our website to see our schedule. A new Beginning Piecing Series is starting. Also the first class in our new series on Improvisational Piecing. There's Paper Piecing, Hand Applique, a new bag class and more. Don't forget we have open sewing on Thursdays!

Also our first, Girls Night Out, will feature the decorative ornament Mary had in our booth at the Quilt Show last week.  We have 2 different Thursday nights scheduled in August since we only have room for 12 . We will set up tables in the shop so you can work on this non-sewing project and sip a little sangria along the way. We will have light snacks and lots of laughter! Bring a friend or two and join us.

It's Cruise Night and we are open late until 7PM tonight.
Stroll around the square and come see what is new.

Sew Long for Now,
Mary and Cheryl
